The lights for the Easter holidays were switched on in Chisinau on Holy Friday. Those who wanted to attend the switching on event gathered in the square in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in central Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the City Hall, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca sent Easter greetings to the residents of Chisinau municipality. “I hope the Holy Light will show us the way to faith, purity and harmony so that we are closer to each other and to God,” he stated. The mayor urged the people to be more united and sincere in what they do, to respect and help each other. “We should all celebrate Easter as this is the most important Christian holiday, together with our dear people. I wish you health, peace and wisdom,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. The lighting equipment in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral was set up by IM “Lumteh” and cost about 50,000 lei. The lights will be on throughout the Easter holidays. The Holy Fire will be brought this evening from Jerusalem to the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”, from where it will be spread to all the church of the country.
