Chisinau students win medals at international Olympiads

Students from Chisinau municipality achieved goods results at international Olympiads in the 2010-2011 academic year. They won two gold medals, nine silvers and 17 bronzes, by eight medals more than a year before, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The municipal and national school Olympiads also represented important events for the municipal education sector. There were held 167 such Olympiads that involved 12 730 students. As many as 1 887 students were awarded,” the head of the Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said in the annual conference of Chisinau teachers. A number of 200 students of the about 400 who took part in national competitions received awards. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb also said that the teachers make increased effort to prepare the students for the municipal conference “Labor, talent, boldness”, which this year brought together about 1 700 students. The quality of the works presented at this conference improves year by year. More than 70% of the students were awarded by the municipal commission.
