A number of first-fourth graders of schools situated in Buiucani district of Chisinau learned to make martsishors within a workshop staged by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport on February 23. The workshop entitled “Martsishor – symbol of spring” was held at the National Museum of History and Natural Ethnography, while craftsmen helped the children to do some special amulets.
Raisa Stratulat, senior specialist of the Division, has told IPN that this is the fourth workshop of the kind, which is aimed at promoting the martsishor. “Its goal is to familiarize the students with the symbol of spring and to stimulate interest in it. We also want to keep the tradition of wearing martsishors and of cultivating the esthetic perception in children,” she stated.
The children and teachers were taught to make martsishors from paper, vegetal fibers and textiles by craftsmen. According to Raisa Stratulat, the workshop was held at the National Museum of History and Natural Ethnography in order to create a special atmosphere.
Similar workshops will be staged the coming days for students of upper grades.
