Chisinau roads cause headaches to local authorities

The local authorities turned again their attention to the Chisinau streets. After the recent frosts, the authorities ascertained that the roads in the municipality are in a deplorable condition and this, according to the head of the General Public Transport and Communication Ways Division Veaceslav Tarna, is only a consequence of their oldness, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the Chisinau City Hall’s meeting on January 21, Tarna said that frosts are expected in February and they could cause new problems to the municipality’s road sector. The damage caused could be assessed only in spring, when the weather warms up. According to Tarna, the municipality does not have sufficient resources at the moment to remedy the road-related problem. Of the 114 million lei planned in the municipal budget for supporting the activities of the General Public Transport and Communication Ways Division this year, only 14 million lei are incomes from the road fund and 45 million lei was allotted for repairing the streets. The other money will be used for lighting the streets and paying for the electricity consumed by lamps on public posts and by the traffic lights.
