Chisinau residents will pay more for waste management

The inhabitants of the capital city will pay more for waste management. The new waste management fees were approved in the July 4 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.

The persons living in apartments will pay a monthly fee of 9.25 lei per dweller, which is by 3.65 lei more than at present. Those who live in private homes will pay 18.5 lei, an increase of 7.30 lei.

For business entities, the fee without VAT will be of 100 lei per cubic meter of waste, up 25 lei.

For comparison, deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said a person who lives in an apartment in Balti municipality pays a waste management fee of 16.5 lei, while those from the private housing sector pay 26.5 lei.

At the suggestion of the head of the Socialist councilors Ion Ceban, the councilors decided that 38,000 socially deprived families from Chisinau, which receive cold-month allowances, will get annual compensations to have the difference in fees covered.
