The spring cleanup campaign in Chisinau is in full swing. The municipal administration says the assistance of the inhabitants of Chisinau is welcome even if the competent services do their job, IPN reports.

Head of the Cleanup Service of the Public Amenities Division Vasile Efros said the people use to do the general cleaning in the house before the Easter holidays and should do the same in the yard and the city. But there is yet a lot to be done in this regard.

Vasile Efros noted that cleaning is the mother of health and this should be maintained. He gave as example the 200 plates with street names placed last year, a part of which were vandalized and need to be replaced. Another 500 new plates are yet to be set up.

The garbage cans in parks and green areas of Chisinau are being renewed within the project “Garbage bins for a clean capital city”, which is co-financed by the National Ecological Fund. There will be put up about 2,000 garbage cans made by a local producer. Approximately 1,000 such cans were placed in Chisinau during the last two years, mainly at bus and trolleybus stations, and many of these were vandalized.

According to Vasile Efros, the cleaning should start in the mind and heart of everyone. “Our job is to clean and lay out the territory, but we would like society to assume the task of keeping and protecting property so as to create a chain of good deeds for us all,” stated Efros, calling on everyone to become involved in cleaning the city so as to enjoy a clean Chisinau.
