The residents of Chisinau are strongly advised to store fir and spruce trees used during the winter holidays near household waste platforms. From there, the trees will be collected by specialized services of the Chisinau City Hall to be transported for recycling, IPN reports.
The General Housing and Amenities Division said that the collection of trees for reuse has already become a tradition after the winter holidays. The trees will be transported in a centralized way to the biodegradable waste platform where they will be chopped and the sawdust resulting from the shredding will be used for organic compost.
This compost will be used by specialists of the Green Areas Association as organic fertilizer for plants and soil fertilization.
“The residents of the capital city are asked not to throw the fir trees directly into waste containers. Also, we urge the citizens not to leave the firs randomly on green spaces, but only in waste collection places,” said the Division.
