Approximately 15,000 trees and bushes will be planted in all the parks of Chisinau and its suburbs on October 26. The event themed “A Tree for our Eternity” is held on the occasion of the National Greening Day.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the Green Areas Association Eliferii Haruta said the greening event will involve about 6,000 persons. The Ministry of the Environment allocated 190,000 lei for purchasing saplings and bushes. One sapling costs 15 to 25 lei.
Eliferii Haruta also said that about 63 hectares in Chisinau have been planted with trees and bushes since 1996. There was created a park on Milescu Spataru St in Ciocana district. Trees are annually planted in the areas exposed to the danger of landslides and where old trees and trees affected by disease were cut.
