About 40 persons besieged the Chisinau City Hall where the Municipal Council is holding a meeting in order to protest against the non-adoption of draft decisions that they consider important for the residents.
Vitalie Voznoi, head of the organization “My Dear City”, has told IPN that the agenda of the Council’s meeting includes about 200 issues concerning the allocation of offices and residential places, but there is no item that refers directly to the inhabitants of Chisinau. According to Voznoi, the problems of the people who remained without homes as a result of a fire on an attic-like apartment story in Botanica district and the introduction of electronic ticketing in the public transport are now more important.
He said that 90% of the items are approved by the municipal councilors by fraudulent schemes and most of the decisions to lease out land in the municipality are illegal.
The protesters demanded that the local councilors of all the factions should return to a constructive dialogue for the people’s benefit and should leave the personal interests aside.
