CCF Moldova and Chisinau's Division for Child Rights Protection are asking people in the capital to become parental assistants as part of an awareness raising campaign that involves advertising posted in the public transport, in parks, churches, health care establishments, stores, schools and kindergartens, and other public places.

The intention is to promote a service that provides a home to many abandoned children at risk of becoming institutionalized or of living in the streets, or for children in orphanages who dream of a family, CCF Moldova said in a press release.

The campaign intends to actively involve the municipal administration and all the 18 suburban entities of Chisinau, the state and private institutions, community actors, as well as active professional parental assistants, who are the main conveyors of the positive practices to the general public.

Parental assistance is a service where a person takes a child home until he or she is adopted or reintegrated into the biological family. In Chisinau, the service has been active for already 15 years. Today, there are 39 professional parental assistants. Some of them have a vast practice, taking care of the 9th child.
