The Government’s Reintegration Office said the events held in Tiraspol on September 2 are aimed at undermining the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova, recognized by the international community. “The ideology of these events runs counter to the objective of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks and worries by its pronounced militaristic accent,” the Office says in its message, quoted by IPN.

While the people of Moldova marked the Independence Day by a national costume parade, by cultural events, concerts and arts exhibitions and by promoting the spirit of conciliation and peace, the Transnistrian authorities stage activities to propagate hatred, demonstrations of force and military drills. The Reintegration Office considers this aggressive and self-isolation rhetoric is against the interests of the residents of the Transnistrian region, especially amid the worsening of the socioeconomic situation and the refusal to continue the negotiations to definitely settle the Transnistrian conflict by political ways.

The Moldovan authorities are convinced that the Transnistrian conflict and all the disagreements must be resolved by political methods, by observing the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova within the internationally recognized borders, by providing a special legal status to the Transnistrian region.

“We consider that this is the only perspective that will allow ensuring the observance of the democratic values and the basic human rights and fundamental freedoms and solving the economic, social and legal problems faced by the people from both sides of the Nistru River as a result of the political-military conflict initiated 25 years ago with the aim of undermining the independence of the Republic of Moldova,” reads the message.

The Transnistrian administration decided to celebrate 25 years of independence of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic by staging a military parade in the center of Tiraspol. The photos of the parade posted on social networking sites show that it was watched by few people.
