Chisinau police receive money for summer equipment

The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) on May 15 allocated 1.4 million lei to the General Police Department of Chisinau for purchasing summer equipment, Info-Prim Neo reports. The money was allotted from the resources accumulated after fulfilling the municipal budget for 2007. Last year, the municipal police received 2.2 million lei for the purpose. Such allocations are planned in the budget every year. According to the head of the Department’s Public Order Service Iurie Carjanovschi, the money is necessary because the clothes become unfit for use in a year. Asked by the CMC president Mihai Ghimpu for how long the clothes are used, Iurie Carjanovschi said that the pants and footwear are used for a year, while the jacket for one year and a half. Earlier, the General Police Department received budget resources for paying the personnel and for public utilities. A number of councilors said that since the municipal authorities allocate money to cover the police’s expenses, the Department’s general commissioner Eugen Axentiev should attend the CMC meeting. The AMN councilor Oleg Cernei repeatedly asked that Eugen Axentiev present a report on the use of the financial resources allocated by the Chisinau authorities at one of the next meetings of the CMC.
