The children of a number of nursery schools of Chisinau, helped by their parents and educators, prepared martsishors on the occasion of the first day of spring. The works were displayed at the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport within the 20th exhibit and contest “Joyful martsishors” on March 1, IPN reports.

Initially, the children presented their works at the nursery and then these were exhibited for the public. The Division’s head Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb has told IPN that during the first contests of the kind, the martsishors were made using traditional elements, but now the children use their imagination and make martsishors with contemporary elements.

The martsishors of different sizes and shapes were made from paper, fabric, plastic and other materials. The children made not only martsishors, but also red and white socks, geometric figures and globes.

Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that this contest contributes to the perpetuation of traditions and develops a habit of making presents. By making martsishors alongside parents, the children learn to see in them a model and to appreciate their qualities.

This year the contest involved children from 88 nurseries of Chisinau. The jury is to choose the most original martsishors and will announce the winners at end-March.
