The local extraordinary public health commissions are to review the anti-COVID-19 measures in accordance with the incidence rate of the cases of infection According to the health authorities, practically all the administrative units fell under the red alert level last week. Only the Transnistrian region is an exception as the incidence rate there is of 565 cases per 100,000 people, IPN reports.

“As Chisinau and Bălți are now not on red alert, but on orange alert, the local commissions of Chisinau and Bălți should come together to adopt decisions corresponding to the orange level. This means that a series of activities can be resumed. Under the red cod, for example, the private events are banned, while under the orange code, these can be held with particular limitations. The same refers to other kinds of social and economic activities,” Svetlana Nicolaescu, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, told a news conference.

Even so, such measures as maintaining of physical distancing, wearing of protective masks and presentation of the COVID-19 certificate in public places remain mandatory.

Last week, there were reported 6,861 new cases of COVOID-19, the daily average being of 980 confirmed cases. This way, for the first timer in the last two months, the number of daily cases fell under 1,000. The cumulative incidence for seven days was 184 cases per 100,000 people, which is an orange alert level nationwide.

Svetlana Nicolaescu said that following the decline in new cases, the situation in hospitals improved. Of the 2,383 persons with COVID-19 who are now hospitalized, 288 are under intensive care and 38 of these are on a ventilator. Of the 396 deaths reported last week, only 110 occurred last week, the others being older cases.
