Chisinau Municipality has a new Regulation on local symbols use

The regulation on the procedure and conditions providing the permission to use local symbols and the official or historical name of Chisinau by businessmen was approved on Thursday, 20 July, by the Municipal Council. According to persons responsible of the General Economy, Reform and Patrimony relations Department (DGERRP), this regulation will prevent from damaging the city’s image, the public order and manners. According to the regulation, local symbols are considered: the coat of arms, images of architectural and historical monuments, the official brand „Chisinau”, as well as the historical name of the municipality and their translations. The right to use the local symbolic in the title of an enterprise and/or trademark and/or services can be obtained only through a CMC decision. Businessmen who use local symbols shall pay in the local budget a tax of 0.1% from the value of produced goods, says Valentina Merla, DGERRP chairwoman. According to the regulation, the decision providing the businessmen with the permission to use the local symbolic can be taken only in case when the goods or services do not damage the image of the municipality, and their quality is certified by the conformity evaluation organisms. The permission is provided for a 10-year term, with the right to be prolonged. It can be canceled in case the owner uses the symbols for other goods and services, or damages the image, or the quality of the goods and services does not comply with the standards set on the date of providing the permission. Now the local symbolic is used by 29 businessmen. Only 9 of them were paying the tax to the budget, due to lack of the regulation.
