A call for bids announced by the Chisinau government to select a contractor for implementing an e-ticketing system in the municipal transit system has been annulled, IPN reports.
This was announced on the public procurement website achizitii.md, with the cited reason being that it is related to the “dismissals of the chairperson and deputy chairperson of the working group” in charge with conducting the tender. The call for bids was supposed to be closed on Tuesday.
During a press conference earlier today, ex-Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoacă asked for the cancellation of the procurement auction, claiming that it was tainted by bid rigging. According to him, there are big differences between the ToR approved in 2017 by the City Council and the one published recently by the tender commission.
The Chisinau authorities first promised to implement an e-ticketing system back in 2010. The deadline, originally set for an unspecified date in 2012, has been constantly extended since. In nine years, the call for bids, now cancelled, was the furthest the process has moved so far.
