Chisinau municipal authorities demand psychologists to work harder in schools

Chisinau's general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asks for intensifying the work of psychologists in all the schools, so as every student should benefit of psychological advising. He made the statement at the City Hal's sitting of Monday, May 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The concern of the local administration has risen after later last week a female student of the George Calinescu high school, aged 15, hanged herself of a tree.
Officials from the Education Direction (DGETS) maintain the minor was not part of at-risk groups, neither did she come from a vulnerable family. The girl's relatives say she has had a relation for more years with a man 10 years older than her, and they would have quarreled these days.
This is the second suicide case for a short period. Several months ago, a boy jumped from a high building and died.
Concerned with the situation, the general mayor wanted to learn of the actions undertaken by the DGETS. The Direction head, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, says, immediately after the case in Ciocana sector, all the schoolmasters were convened, as well as deputy schoolmasters and teachers responsible of classes to instruct them to organize seminars pursuing to discover possible conflicts in the students' interpersonal relationships. She said specialists from different areas had been involved to organize training courses hopefully with positive effects on students.
Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb opines that in order to avoid and prevent conflict situations leading to suicide, the parents shall also get involved in educating their children, to keep a permanent dialog with them.
This week the mayor is to be presented a report on the activity of psychologists in schools.
