All the drivers of the minibuses running on route No. 191 in Chisinau stopped work in protest at the municipality’s decision to extend the itinerary of route No. 178. Representatives of the Chisinau Public Transport and Communications Division said the route administrator halted the work illegally and faces a fine.
Contacted by IPN, the Division’s deputy head Vitalie Butucel said the administrator acted illegally and will be thus fined. The administrator also risks remaining without the authorization for managing minibus route No. 191. It can be transmitted to another economic entity.
The functionary assured that the employees of the company administering route No.191 will not be affected. The administrator is dissatisfied with the fact that route No. 191 intersects with route No. 178. He said that this dissatisfaction is unfounded as about 60% of the municipal minibus routes overlap.
IPN tried to contact the administrator of route. No. 191 Ion Mamaliga, who is the chairman of the Private Carriers Association, but he didn’t answer the phone. Representatives of the municipal authorities sad they also didn’t manage to discuss with the administrator over the phone.
