Chisinau mayor’s call to help homeless persons without answer

The call made by the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca to help the homeless persons by providing them with clothes and footwear remained without an answer yet. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, specialist in social matters of the Center for Housing Homeless Persons Marcela Dita said only one person called the Center on Tuesday, expressing readiness to bring clothes for persons in need. The persons who can lend a hand by donating clothes, footwear, blankets or other goods can go directly to the Center for Housing Homeless Persons located at 2 Haltei St or call it on 27 64 31. The private individuals who make donations do not need to present certificates. However, the organizations must confirm that the clothes had been disinfected. The people are also urged to bring clean, disinfected clothes. According to the Ambulance Service, 170 homeless persons were found dead or died in the hospital in 2010. About 100 of them have died since the start of winter.
