Chisinau mayoralty intends to reduce the number of accidents

The initiatives of the local public authorities of the capital lately, such as reducing the number of maxi-taxis and their replacing with big capacity buses, implementing the automatic system of road traffic management, renewal of undergrounds for pedestrians, construction of parking etc., were included in a Municipal Program of Road Management for short and long-term. According to the Program, the local authorities want to decrease the number of accidents by intensifying the supervision activities of technological passenger transport process, by implementing mobile units of Road Police and Public Transport and Communications Department in districts with an increased number of accidents and high traffic, finding and collecting information on administrative offences of passenger transport field. In this sense, it is foreseen organizing prophylaxis raids of road circulation violations made by drivers and pedestrians as well. In the same time, it is foreseen that businessmen providing passenger transport services in municipality Chisinau to implement performing methods of supervising the activity. It will be required government’s help in canceling the entrepreneur’s patent for passenger transport with taxis. The program includes as well measures related to installment of special equipment for changing semaphore activity depending on transport traffic, maxi-taxis and taxis concentration, providing passenger transport, into auto specialized enterprises, which have material base for technical control of rolling material and checking health situation of drivers. It is foreseen as well annual purchase of 100 trolleybuses and 80 buses, construction of 6 bridges, reconstruction of 4 streets, construction of 5 trolleybus lines.
