Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca had his first meeting with the new President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti on March 27. The mayor was accompanied by representatives of the factions working on the Chisinau Municipal Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall, Dorin Chirtoaca congratulated Nicolae Timofti on his appointment as President and wished him success in his new position. He stressed the importance of the election of the head of state for overcoming the political crisis and ensuring stability and prosperity in the country. Nicolae Timofti thanked the mayor for his greetings. “I, as a resident of Chisinau, am pleased with the changes that took place in the city during the last few years. I hope that we will be able to cooperate in achieving the country’s strategic objectives – the European integration, economic growth, combating of corruption and reformation of the judicial system, and the people will be satisfied with our results. During my tenure, you can count on the support of the presidential administration in the implementation of projects that are of major importance for Chisinau,” said Nicolae Timofti. The mayor passed over to the President the text of the last recommendation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe that was approved last week. It refers to the situation of the local public authorities in Moldova. Dorin Chirtoaca asked the head of state to offer assistance in promoting and implementing this recommendation. He informed Nicolae Timofti about the main projects of the Chisinau municipality for the next few years. They concern the increase in budget incomes, the assembling of trolleybuses, the repair of streets, the construction of an Olympic stadium, etc. Nicolae Timofti is the fourth President of Moldova, who was elected on March 16.
