Chisinau Mayor seeks to discipline 'rude' camp educator

Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has demanded that an educator at Zambetul summer camp be punished for insulting a child. During the City Hall meeting, Mayor Chirtoaca requested the adjunct chief of the Department for Education, Science, Youth and Sport Zinaida Popescu to tell him what sanctions were taken against an educator that “ruined a child’s vacation”. Zinaida Popescu reported that the authorities discussed with both the child and the educator, who is a good student in college in Chisinau. Besides, she mentioned a message was issued to all the camps to avoid similar incidents. “The punishment must be applied to the guilty person and institution, not to all the camps” the mayor stressed. The incident in question happened last week at Zambetul summer camp in Vadul lui Voda town. A girl complained to the Mayor she wanted to go home because an educator had harshly reprimanded her, using swear words. The educator tried to justify herself by saying the girl was “too sensitive”.
