“In the electoral fever, Chisinau may remain without administration,” says Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) councilor Oleg Cernei. He says the general mayor, four deputy mayors, three district heads and 30 councilors of 51will be on the lists for the 2009 parliamentary elections. “The questions rises: who will run the affairs in Chisinau municipality?” the councilor asked at a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. Oleg Cernei referred to the law providing for the interimship of the position of general mayor, according to which the officials should suspend their duties in case of running in elections. “The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) could appoint a Communist councilor as a mayor. That is why AMN has come up with the idea to create a bloc in the CMC called 'Democratic Chisinau' with a joint agenda, formed by the democratic factions in the Council, to set a positive example to the post-elections coalition in the parliament-to-be,” Cernei said. According to him, the results of the talks will be announced by weekend. Ahen asked by Info-Prim Neo, general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has said he did not personally to Oleg Cernei about such a bloc, but reminded that such a coalition existed in the summer of 2007. Referring to Oleg Cernei's concerns, Dorin Chirtoaca has stated there is no such a problem as the management of the city hall. “More is to be announced, after the political parties announce their lists,” said the official. Oleg Cernei refused to say where he knows from that the mentioned officials will run in elections.
