The administrators of Chisinau markets will annually pay a fixed tax of 60 lei per square meter into the municipal budget. Such a decision was approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council on March 28, IPN reports.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said the adoption of the decision was a historical step as the discussions lasted for about eight hours. In the period the municipal councilors took two breaks. The approved tax will be put on all the markets, except the motor, flowers and second-hand ones.
Until now the taxes were different. Some of the administrators paid lower taxes, while others higher taxes, even of over 100 lei per square meter.
The decision was agreed by the votes of 26 councilors. The Communists abstained from voting.
The taxes for the three types of markets excluded from the initial list will be discussed in the next meeting of the Council.
The market administrators so far paid a tax of 20% of the revenues, on average 12 lei per square meter.
