The woman principal of a Chisinau lyceum was sentenced to five years in jail for corruption. She was also banned from holding particular posts for a period of two years and was obliged to pay a fine of 20,000 lei. The woman was arrested in the courtroom of the Botanica Court, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the director was arrested on August 28, 2013 after prosecutors and anticorruption officers documented her illegal acts. The woman was accused of asking for €600 from the parents of a student for admitting him to the lyceum she headed by transfer. During the arrest, the woman voluntarily gave the money she took from the parents.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
