The central authorities don’t have money to connect Tantareni village, Anenii Noi district, to running water and drainage, although the locality is included into the National Water and Drainage Program for 2008-2012. The Tantareni local authorities have appealed to the Chisinau City Hall for support, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a distance of a couple of kilometers from the village there is solid garbage dump – the only Chisinau has. The locals are concerned and unhappy the water in wells is polluted because of the dump. Villagers complain all the refuse leaks under the earth and poisons their wells, as the reek eliminated is unbearable. General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told the Hall’s sitting on Monday, April 7, he notified Agency “Apele Moldovei”, the competence of which was taken over by the Construction and Territory Development Ministry. In its response the agency specifies Tantareni village can be connected to aqueduct and drainage only through a possible future loan of grant. “Apele Moldovei” recommends “the local public authorities to seek all the possibilities to identify financial sources, cooperating with Moldovan and foreign funds, involving companies from the area”. A list of donors was attached to the reply. “This is a sort of way in which the Government sees the solution of citizens’ problems, annexing donor lists,” Dorin Chirtoacă remarked, asking his subdivision heads to put up proposals to resolve the matter. “It’s indeed a very big issue for the Tantareni villagers and I don’t think it’s the case to have one more conflict,” the mayor said. The waste territory near Tantareni was built 15 years ago.
