The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) is investigating a judge of Chisinau's Rascani district court for abuse of power. The judge is suspected of causing damage to a woman who sued a contractor for not making the apartment paid by her available in due time, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Center. The judge passed an illegal decision in a case concerning the recovery of the money invested in the construction of an apartment. A woman paid €47,220 to a company that was erecting an apartment building on Ciuflea St in Chisinau. Later, she asked that the money be paid back as the construction works were not completed in 2009, when the building was to be put in commission, but the company refused. The woman sued the company and the court ordered that the money be levied from the company by force. The Rascani enforcement office sequestrated a building located on Constructorilor St that belonged to the given company. The company appealed against the decision to sequestrate its property to the Rascani court. The case was tried by judge Ion Timofei. The same day, on February 26, 2010, the judge overturned the Rascani enforcement office's order of February 9. The CCCEC says by his decision, the judge allowed the company to sell all the apartments that were vacant in the building situated on Constructorilor St, prejudicing thus the interests of other persons who invested money in apartments, but remained without money and home.
