The assets of the state-run Chisinau International Airport have been conceded to SRL UK KOMAKS, in association with SA Habarovsk Airport, SA Kolomensk Zavod and SRL Avia Invest, IPN reports.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar Wednesday presented a report on the contest held to select the company that will manage the assets of the Chisinau International Airport. The presentation of the report represents the last procedure before the concession of the assets to the winter of the contest announced by the Government in May.

According to Valeriu Lazar, the contest commission made invitations to seven specialized companies. Only two Russian companies submitted bids by the August 5 deadline. When assessing the offers, it was established that the bid of Vnucovo-Invest didn’t meet the imposed conditions.

Lazar said the winner offered to manage the airport for a period of 49 years, to pay dues of 1% of the revenues and to make investments of €244.2 million. During 60 days, the airport’s asserts will be inventoried before being leased out.

As regards the legality of the decision to concede the airport, given that it was taken in May by the dismissed Government, Lazar said he is convinced that this decision is perfectly legal.
