Interim mayor of Chisinau Veaceslav Iordan is concerned about the non-fulfilment of the Plan intended to sterilise stray dogs, earlier worked out along with animal protection associations. During the City Hall’s session, Iordan requested not only to implement this plan, but also to register all the pets in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. Interim mayor gave these indications after the report presented by the interim chief doctor of the Chisinau State Veterinary Service, Radu Mudreac, regarding the situation in the field in Chisinau municipality. As Mudreac says, in November 2006, in concert with animal protection associations there was set a timetable for sterilising the stray dogs in all the veterinary clinics, but, until now, it was not carried out. Mudreac says that the Service he leads tries to combat rabies by vaccinating animals. Thus, about 20,000 dogs and 14,000 cats were vaccinated last year. From the beginning of this year, 58 residents of Chisinau were bitten by dogs and required medical assistance.
