Chisinau hosts XII International Book Fair

The best and “the most colored” books able to conquer the hearts and minds of the growing generation have been shelved at the 12th edition of the International Book Fair, inaugurated on Wednesday, 16 April, in the premises of the Puppet Theater “Licurici” in the Moldovan capital, Info-Prim Neo reports. The opening ceremony was started by the organizer of this Fair, the director of the Ion Creanga children library, Claudia Balaban. “This Fair of books for children, launched in April 1997, is one of the most important cultural events of the recent years in Moldova, as more and more publishers from the world want to join it,” she said. The present edition, joined by as many as 120 publishing houses from 10 countries, including Moldova, Romania, Russia, France, China, Ukraine, Belarus, is patronaged by the Moldovan Parliament Speaker. Parliament President Marian Lupu has said the Book Fair is best event, gaining momentum year by year, bringing light to books. In the end of the Fair, they will award the Igor Vieru prizes for illustrating children’s books, the Book of Year and other prizes. This edition of the International Book Fair is organized by the International Children’s Book Council, the Culture Ministry, and the Education Ministry. Its pursues to support publishing and disseminating books for children, supporting highly artistic books and the ones contributing to make and publish publications for children.
