The Italian Republic is a strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova in terms of trade and investments. In the course of 2018, Moldova’s exports to Italy rose by 31.2% compared with 2017. By the value of trade recorded in 2018, Italy ranks fourth among the partners with which Moldova has commercial relations, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici stated in the sixth Economic Forum of Italian Enterprises and Mixed Moldovan-Italian Enterprises in Moldova that is held in Chisinau on June 4, IPN reports.

According to the minister, the forum is an important communication platform that offers informational support to all the representatives of companies with Italian capital working in Moldova. The event is also an opportunity for developing sustainable partnerships, sharing positive experiences and finding solutions to challenges. “The goal of the Government is to create advantageous conditions for investors so that they could develop a profitable business in our country,” stated Kiril Gaburici.

Italy’s Ambassador to Moldova Valeria Biagiotti said Italy is an important partner for the bilateral economic relations with Moldova and the forum is the result of the development of these relations. The goal for the future is to expand the joint Moldovan-Italian activities. “Today’s forum will give a qualitatively superior dimension to the bilateral Moldovan-Italian relations given the important objective of the policy to optimize the national economy and to integrate the Republic of Moldova into the global economy,” stated the diplomat.

Alexandru Baltag, director general of the Moldova Business People Association, said a positive phenomenon is seen, namely that the Moldovan citizens in Italy borrow the Italian entrepreneurial culture and implement it in Moldova. As to Moldova’s investment attractiveness, the authorities show unprecedented openness to businesses. The fiscal reform done last year made the Moldovan fiscal system become one of the most attractive in Europe.

About 1,400 enterprises with Italian capital operate in Moldova at present. They invested about 1.8 billion lei and this figure places Italy second among the top foreign investors.

The Economic Forum is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau in cooperation with the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Italian-Moldovan Chamber of Commerce.
