The largest international tax conference in Moldova is taking place in Chisinau. The fourth edition of “TAXCON'23” was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Romanian Chamber of Fiscal Consultants, IPN reports.

The process of coming closer to the European Union implies the harmonization of about 1,700 normative documents that are within the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance. Almost half of these refer to the tax and customs areas. These adjustments necessitate a constant dialogue with the business community and are aimed at simplifying the procedures, towards specification and standardization, Minister of Finance Veronica Sirețeanu stated in the opening of “TAXCON'23”.

“The fiscal policies and instruments should be predictable and should offer a stable and favorable framework for businesses so that the investments prosper and the national economy and the workers prosper together with them,” said Mila Malairau, AmCham Moldova executive director.

Sweden’s Ambassador to Moldova Katarina Fried said the conference marks the start of the third stage of cooperation between the State Tax Service of the Republic of Moldova and the Swedish Tax Agency. “The main objective of the cooperation is to support the internal management reforms at the State Tax Service of the Republic of Moldova, the international digital exchange of information about taxes and the promotion of a customer-oriented approach towards tax payers,” noted Katarina Fried.

Laura Hruby, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, said that “TAXCON” is an essential platform that puts to good use the impressive collective expertise of all those attending the conference and the effort to address the pressing challenges in finance and governance, to promote economic growth in the Republic of Moldova and to accelerate the European integration.

About 300 participants have registered to take part in “TAXCON”. The main items on the agenda of the conference refer to fiscal administration – excellence through voluntary compliance, fiscal policies to counter unfair competition – national and international aspects, customs management through the angle of the new Tax Code, labor relations and taxation. The event involves six international experts and 15 national specialists.

The conference was organized with the support of USAID Moldova and the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau. The publication Monitorul.fisc.md is the media partner of the event.
