A series of activities are staged this week in Chisinau within the week “Joy in Movement”. The event takes place in Moldova for the first time. In Romanian towns, this event has been staged annually during four years. In a news conference at IPN, the organizers said that besides promoting a healthy lifestyle, they aim to support a team of ten Moldovan students who will take part in an important school performance event in Romania entitled “Creators of Future – Champions United”.
The event “Joy in Movement” was launched in Romania in 2012 by the Cluj-Napoca-based Association “11EVEN”. The Association’s founder Ovidiu Neamtu said that during four years this event has been held in a number of Romanian towns and supported the idea when it was offered to organize this event in Chisinau too. “In Moldova, the event differs from that held in Romania. There, we stage it on a Saturday, but here it will last for a week,” he stated.
According to Ovidiu Neamtu, this week volunteers of the event will go to kindergartens and schools where they will urge the children to go out and play different games. Such activities are very important given that the children do not move much in the era of information technology. Thus, in the evening of May 19, all those who want can go to the swimming pool located near the Government Building to swim there, starting at 5pm. A running race will be held in the Park “Valea Morilor” on May 21, starting at 9am. Participation in the event is free, but those who want can make donations for the ten students who will go to Romania.
The week “Joy in Movement” will end on May 22 in the Dendrarium Park with a festival that will include activities for the whole family. In the evening, the band “Gandul Matei”, which recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its foundation, will give a concert. Entrance to the festival is free of charge.
The shop chain Kaufland is the main partner of the event “Joy in Movement. The company’s representative Anna-Katharina Scheidereiter told the same news conference that the Kaufland chain supported these events since their launch and agreed to support them in Chisinau too.
Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca said that such events will always be supported by the City Hall. They are also an opportunity for the investors from Kaufland to see the capital city of Moldova, especially given their intention to build a shop chain here.
