Chisinau hosts European Armwrestling and Para-Armwrestling Championships

Over 1,000 athletes from 30 states will take part in the 32nd edition of the European Arm-wrestling and Para Armwrestling Championships during June 11-17. For the first time, the event will take place in Chisinau, at the Exhibitions Center “Moldexpo”.

The official opening of the championships will take place at 4pm on June 11. The preliminary matches start at 9am on June 12 and last until 4pm, with the finals being set for 5pm.

The best armwrestlers of Europe will dispute 306 sets of medals intended for juniors, veterans, seniors and all the Paralympic classes, the president of the National Armwrestling Sports Federation of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Grumeza stated in a news conference hosted by IPN.

A number of diplomatic missions have already announced their presence at the competition.

According to Alexandru Grumeza, the final of the championships will be broadcast live on the national channel We Sport so that those who cannot follow the competition at the venue will be able to do it through the TV screen.

Mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban said he is glad that the capital city will host such an event. During seven days, Moldova’s capital will play host to this extraordinary sports event. All those interested are invited to attend. The event holds major interest form all the viewpoints.

Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, welcomed the hosting of the event and expressed his confidence and hope that the sports federations will be able to further bring championships of such a level to the capital city.
