Five high schools from the municipality of Chisinau will be soon connected to a wireless Internet system (Wi-Fi) as part of the project “We Praise Intelligence” implemented by the Chisinau City Hall in cooperation with the company StarNet, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the company's director Alexandru Machedon, the aim of the project is to stimulate the students to develop their abilities and to learn better. The parents will be able to see the grades and absences of their children over the Internet.
“We are a young and ingenious team that care about the society and the environment where we live. We decided to launch this project in order to build an independent and competitive society. The project is intended for intelligent young people, who aspire to have a better future,” Alexandru Machedon said at a roundtable meeting held to launch the project on September 22.
Spiru Haret, Ion Creanga, Mihai Eminescu, Mihai Sadoveanu and Constantin Sibirski will be the first high schools to be connected to the Wi-Fi system. Afterward, the project will be extended to other lyceums.
“The project aims to encourage the Chisinau students to learn better. We want to stimulate every student to engage in this knowledge competition. This offer will make education a more transparent process,” said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca.
“Given the positive changes taking place in the society, this project will lead to the appearance of new projects that will make any activity even more transparent,” said Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport.
The informative portal www.liceu.md was launched as part of the project to encourage the high school students to enter the competition. The company promised that the students with the best school standing will be awarded prizes.
