Chisinau firefighters struggling with fire that engulfed roof of apartment building

The roof of a new apartment building located on Angela Paduraru St in Chisinau’s Buiucani district has been burning for about five hours, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo. The roof covered with pitch caught fire at about 10.30. Four firefighting vehicles were on the scene in several minutes. The fire was localized in less than one hour, but the pitch continues to burn. All the dwellers left the building. According to preliminary investigations, the constructors who stopped up the wholes on the roof with pitch this morning broke the rules of using open fire. The 1,279 fires that happened this year resulted in the death of 113 persons, including two children.
