The education institutions of Chisinau experience a shortage of teaching staff. “The lack of teachers is a common, global problem. The interest in the profession of teacher has increased. In the municipality, the shortage of teaching staff is very great,” said deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich.
Contacted by IPN, Angela Kutasevich said the demand for educators of preschool institutions is the highest. There are also not enough teachers of such exact sciences as math and physics and also secondary school teachers. “We are making effort to attract more teachers to the system. I hope we will succeed, even if it is very hard, especially because the profession implies physical and emotional effort and professional exhaustion that is typical of this profession. Only persons who love the children and want to devote their time to them should come to the system,” stated the deputy mayor.
The shortage of teaching staff in Moldova is currently at about 2,000.
