The head of Rascani district Mihai Carlig announced that he will run for the post of mayor general of Chinua municipality as an independent candidate. In a press briefing, he accused Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca of distancing the City Hall from the people, destroying the healthy pyramid that existed in the institution and of not cooperating with the municipal councilors for solving residents’ problems, IPN reports.

According to Mihai Carlig, the problems faced by Chisinau are generated by the illegalities committed at the City Hall as a result of which the municipality is dispossessed of land. There are by even four persons from the same family holding executive posts at the City Hall.

Carlig spoke about the results he achieved as head of Rascani district, mentioning the repair of Mihai Viteazu St and Grigore Vieru Blvd, the staging of the festival “La Izvor” and the delegation of students to take part in an international Olympiad.

In the end, the district head said he is ready for attacks as this is the way in which the current administration of Chisinau municipality acts towards those who do not share its views. He presented a pair of boxing gloves, which he put in front of the Chisinau City Hall, saying he wants not an election campaign with revenge taking, but a fair struggle between contenders.

Mihai Carlig didn’t say when he will submit the documents needed for being registered as a candidate. To be able to run in the elections, the independent candidates must present a list of 10,000 signatures in their support.
