The Chisinau Court of Appeals has obliged the Buiucani District Court to re-examine the case of Eduard Musuc. The Court admitted on Wednesday, March 28, the petition filed by Ghenadie Tatar, the lawyer of the PSD leader, and quashed the decision of the Buiucani District Court concerning this case, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Committee for Defence of Citizens Rights (CDCR), on March 15, the Buiucani District Court imposed a 500 MDL fine on the leader of the Democrat Social Party Eduard Musuc, for an alleged administrative contravention that occurred after the patentees’ protest meeting held on March 12, 2007. Thus, the court found that the protesters crossed Stefan cel Mare Blvd illegally, that being instigated by the organisers of the protest, and they blocked the traffic on this road for a few minutes. On the same day, policemen of the Buiucani Commissariat detained the chairman of CDCR, Eduard Musuc, and the chairman of the Small Business Association (SBA), Eugen Roscovanu, accusing them of jeopardising the traffic of public transport. Subsequently, Musuc was fined. PSDM thinks that the police’s actions and the decision of Buiucani Court have no legal ground and are politically motivated. Its aim is to set a juridical ground for not authorising future protests. According to the party, the actions of the police and Buiucani court are new attempts to intimidate PSDM leaders and, following this example, – leaders of the protest committees, organisers of meetings from all raion centres and markets in Chisinau municipality.
