Chisinau couples celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Fourteen couples living in the municipality of Chisinau celebrated their golden wedding at the Registry Office in Chisinau on October 26. They put their signatures in the Honour Book and received flowers and financial assistance worth 500 lei. Attending the ceremony, Nina Stratulat, head of the Social-Humanitarian and Interethnic Relations Division of the Chisinau City Hall, congratulated the couples, wishing them health and long life near the close and beloved persons. Nina Stratulat stressed that the life in couple of these people is an example that the young generation should follow. One of the couples, the Hohlov family, said that the jubilee is marked by an incredible coincidence. Fifty years ago, when they got married, the Hohlov couple lived in the house where the Registry Office is now located. Back then, this building had only one storey, Arcadii Hohlov recollects. His wife, Branislava, said that they got along well together during 50 years because they cannot be “in a state of war” for too long, though they quarrel practically every day. Mihail and Valentina Ceban met in Falesti at a party in the spring of 1957. In the autumn of the same year, they got married. The man says that he never regretted his choice. The secret of a happy marriage is the love for life, people, work and motherland, says Mihail Ceban. Another 13 Chisinau couples celebrated their golden anniversary on October 25. The golden marriages in Chisinau municipality have been celebrated from 1997. A number of 1,968 couples have celebrated their golden jubilee since then.
