Oleg Cernei, municipal councilor representing the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) in the Chisinau City Council, thinks he's being followed around the city for about a week now. “If something happens to me or to my family, all the responsibility will be on the municipal police and the Ministry of Interiors, together with Minister (Gheorghe) Papuc”, Cernei told a news conference on Monday. The councilor claims he is being tailed by a car painted in a metallic color, with Hancesti plates, and assumes that the pursuit started following a sitting at the Ministry of Interiors. He also believes his phones are tapped, and a person who recently moved in his building is watching him from the balcony. Oleg Cernei links the events to his criticism of the police, especially after the recent meeting of the Council, at which he suggested cutting financing for the municipal police by 25 million lei, because it is financed by the municipality, but follows the orders of the Interiors Ministry. “In this election campaign, the police will engage in pursuits, criminal proceedings, pressures, and this is perfectly true for my case”, declared the councilor. Oleg Cernei said he would complain to the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interiors.
