Chisinau Council rejects draft decision to pay heat compensations automatically

The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Tuesday rejected a draft decision crafted by the Social-Democrats to automatically pay heating compensations to some categories of people, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PSD wanted the Chisinau local administration to pay compensations to the retirees getting less than 1,450 lei in monthly incomes, and to other social categories. Alexandru Tanase, the leader of the Liberal-Democratic faction, has said the PSD's proposal is not fair, since many people getting come-ons from the state have incomes bigger than 1,450 lei a month. “The regulation on the heat compensations is good, but we should check why it does not work and why the people do not present documents to get compensations,” Tanase said. PSD secretary Eduard Musuc says the heat compensations by-law is not functional and creates lots of problems to beneficiaries, since they have to gather lots of documents. “That is why only 5 thousand beneficiaries submitted their documents to get compensations,” Musuc said. The CMC has resolved to set up a commission to see why the regulation does not work. The municipality grants compensations to the people getting a monthly income of less than 1,450 lei per family member. But the applicants shall submit documents confirming that status.
