The members of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) could not reach a decision as to the standing commissions again. The majority Communist faction claims the presidency of six of the seven commissions, while the Liberal and Liberal-Democratic factions consider it would be fair if they headed by a commission, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said three of the seven standing commissions are considered important. An agreement was reached with the Communist faction the previous days. It was agreed that each of the factions should have a majority of representatives in one of these three commissions. The Communist faction is to head the commission on constructions, architecture and financial resources, the Liberal faction – the commission on budget, economy, finance, local public patrimony and agriculture, while the Liberal-Democratic faction – the legal commission on public order and local public administration. The agreement was to be confirmed this morning, before the meeting of the CMC. But it did not happen.
The representatives of the parties of the Alliance for European Integration and the Communist Party exchanged harsh replies from the very beginning of the meeting. The three Communists - Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Ion Ciobanu, whose seats of MP were invalidated at the previous meeting - also came. Dorin Chirtoaca reprimanded Igor Dodon for missing the Parliament’s sitting. The MP replied that the meetings of the CMC are public and he can attend them.
After arguing for over an hour, the councilors decided to take a break and discuss the composition of the specialized commissions. An hour later, Dorin Chirtoaca said the Communist faction asked for a break until November 3.
