The meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council scheduled for September 7 was postponed until September 12 at the request of the Socialist councilors. The group’s head Ion Ceban said a number of the items included in the agenda are open to question. The Socialists asked that the authors should provide details about these by the September 12 meeting, IPN reports.
Among the invoked subjects is the raising of a loan of €11 million for repairing the wastewater treatment station. The loan is to be taken out based on an agreement signed by the water supplier “Apa-Canal Chisinau”. Another subject that the Socialists consider unclear is the allocation of another €3 million for repairing Stefan cel Mare Blvd. “In this connection, the Socialists ask for a pause until 10am on September 12 and request to constitute an internal working group that would clarify these issues,” said Ion Ceban.
Liberal councilor Ion Cebanu called on the local councilors to continue the meeting given that the Council hasn’t sat for a month and the agenda includes important issues. But his call wasn’t supported and the Socialists left the meeting hall. As a quorum was not present, the meeting could not be continued.
