The Chisinau City Council (CMC) today appointed Valeriu Didenco to the post of CMC Secretary, following a public recruitment competition.
The appointment was approved with the vote of 23 out of 26 councillors attending.
Valeriu Didencu graduated from the History Faculty of the Moldovan State University, and holds a master’s degree from the Public Administration Academy. He has been working in the system of local public administration since 1982, serving as functionary at the Ialoveni District Council, underprefect of the former Chisinau County, and deputy head of territorial office of the Government’s apparatus.
The post fell vacant after the former CMC Secretary Vladimir Sarban was appointed as head of Chisinau’s Centru district. The Council then formed a commission to conduct a public recruitment competition. Didencu was selected from among nine applicants.
According to the job description, the Secretary of the Chisinau City Council supervises the activity of the Local Public Administration Division; Correspondence, Petition and Audience Division; Administrative Division; Technology and Information System Division; and the Municipal Archive Service.
