Chisinau Council approves mayoral road rehabilitation program

The Chisinau City Council has approved a 900-million-lei mayoral road rehabilitation program under which the asphalt layer will be completely renewed on a number of major streets in the city, Info-Prim Neo reports. The program includes the boulevards Stefan cel Mare and Grigore Vieru, and the streets Alecu Russo, Vasile Alecsandri, Mihai Viteazu, Alba Iulia, Trandafirilor, Vadul lui Voda, Iurie Gagarin, Grenoble, Constantin Negruzzi, Calea Iesilor, Constantin Stere, and Miorita. “This is an unprecedented sum for road repair purposes”, said Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. The program plans to cover 1 million square meters annually. The City Hall will repair 10 out of 37 streets selected for the first phase of the program, while the remainder will need external financing, which the mayor intends to obtain from investment projects. “A tender contest will be called to select a contractor that will come both with the financial solution and the technical one”, said the mayor, adding that the City Hall intends to pay the contractor in installments.
