The Chisinau City Council on Tuesday, March 23, adopted the project for the rehabilitation of the Valea Morilor /Mills Valley/ Park submitted by the municipal department for architecture and urbanization. However the councilmen excluded from the project the construction of a floating hotel and restaurant, Info-Prim Neo reports. “One solution is to allocate money from the municipal budget and restore the park to its previous condition”, said Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca at the Council's meeting. “Another solution is to adopt a conception for an investment project. This would enable us not only to beautify the park with money from private investors, but also to transform it into a modern tourist attraction”. Councilman Ghenadie Dumanschi, the head of the Liberal-Democratic faction, appreciated the project, but said that it still needed the approval of the environmental experts, while Ravnopravie leader Valeri Klimenko presumed the investors would want something in exchange for the money, fearing it could be ownership over the park's land. The project was adopted with unanimity after Communist councilman Valeri Pavlov proposed scrapping the floatel. Seals of approval will be requested from the ecological authorities and the Ministry of Culture. Responsible for the project were appointed the deputy mayors Mihai Furtună and Nistor Grozavu.
