Hundreds of people went on Friday to the center of the capital city to celebrate Chisinau City’s Day. The residents and guests of Chisinau could visit exhibitions, fairs and other events staged in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” and in the Great National Assembly Square. The performances given on the central stage involved a large number of artist groups and singers, IPN reports.

“The day when the Patron Saint of Chisinau is celebrated is a feat day for each of us and for our capital city. Chisinau is our common house and we, the inhabitants of this city, bless the place. We have the best residents, the most beautiful children and the greatest prospects for the future. It is important to wish property to the city and to together achieve this objective. I wish you daily blessing, health and peace in your homes. Let the eyes of our children and young people express happiness. I would like our parents and grandparents to live calmly their old age. I want Chisinau city to develop and to thrive so that when we say that we were born in Chisinau we say it proudly,” mayor Ion Ceban stated in the inauguration of the celebrations.

Twenty-six personalities from the field of culture were awarded by the Chisinau City Hall on the occasion of the event. Ion Ceban conferred the title of Citizen of Honor of Chisinau on Ludmila Scalnyi and Tatiana Harghel. “Today’s event is a traditional one and is staged in gratitude and appreciation for the combined forces, the noble and responsible duty fulfilled by the people of culture to promote authentic values,” noted the municipality.

On Chisinau City’s Day, the National Creation Center “Buciumul Moldovan Village” was reopened after renovation. The Center’s director Maria Stoyanov noted that this space is a piece of heaven located downtown, a peasant’s yard with the inheritance left by our ancestors where guests can be welcomed.
