Chisinau City Hall to pay three fines of €1,550 each

The Chisinau City Hall has to pay three fines for refusing to issue authorizations for running gambling places. The fines of €1,550 each were imposed by courts, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the gambling places should be banned all over the country. “Gambling is an injurious activity and these places bring nothing good,” he stated. According to the deputy head of the Trade, Public Food and Services Division Valentina Constantinov, after the municipality refuses to authorize the gambling activities, the companies sue the local authorities and win the cases. The municipality will file an application to the Parliament’s legal commission and ask that the lawmakers put forward a legislative initiative to ban gambling activities.
