The Chisinau City Hall is opening the winter holiday season with a recital by Romanian singer Paula Seling, who will perform for the first time in Chisinau. The concert will start today at 6:00 PM at the National Philharmonic Hall. Chisinau Deputy Mayor Lucia Culev told a news conference that the show is a present for all the residents of the capital city on Saint Nicholas’ eve, when both well behaved children and adults receive gifts. Lucia Culev added that the City Hall has prepared many other surprises for the Chisinau residents, including a winter carnival around the Christmas tree in the National Assembly Square on December 25. Paula Seling was very enthusiastic about the opportunity to perform in Chisinau, adding that she has heard a lot of great things about the concerts and artists in Moldova. Paula Seling said she came here with a present for the Moldovan orphans – a teddy bear donated as part of the City Hall’s project “Joys for Children”. The Chisinau audience will have the opportunity to listen to carols from Paula Seling’s albums “For Christmas” and “For Holidays”, as well as other new and older songs. The highspot of the show is expected to be the most recent single “Culeg Vise” (I Gather Dreams) from the upcoming album “Pierdut” (Lost). Paula Seling says that this song that she wrote from her impressions of life and nature represents her very much. The singer also promised to perform her older hits like Nichita Stanescu’s “Ploaie in Luna lui Marte”, set to music by Nicu Alifantis, “Timpul” by Marius Moga, and “Promit”, one of her first musical creations. Paula Seling is the winner of the 2002 Golden Stag Festival’s Trophy and of the 1997 Mamaia Festival’s Grand Prix.
